what we do
Esso’s main businesses include the following :-
- A complex refinery with a feed capacity of 177,000 barrels/day
- An aromatics plant with a capacity of 500,000 tons/year of paraxylene
- A solvent production unit with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year
- Petroleum supply to a network of more than 570 Esso-branded service stations nationwide
Our complex refinery configuration, integrating the aromatics plant, provides significant flexibility to manage our crude oil intake to produce a larger proportion of high-value products. Our refinery is located near the Laem Chabang deep sea port in Chon Buri province, benefiting from its ready access to the port, road networks, and a multi-product transmission pipeline. Our strategic location also allows us to receive crude oil shipments through our multiple-point buoy mooring facilities and from very large crude carriers through access to single-buoy mooring facilities. In some cases, we export products for sale outside Thailand.
Our aromatics production incorporates ExxonMobil’s proprietary technologies. We produce mainly paraxylene, which is used to make Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA), the raw material for producing polyester, film, packaging resin, and fabrics. Most of the benzene concentrate stream produced by the aromatics plant is further processed to produce more paraxylene.

- ExxonMobil’s Global Energy Management System (GEMS), a comprehensive and rigorous system of operational, maintenance, and design best practices for energy management
