Mr. Mongkolnimit Auacherdkul (2nd left), director and public affairs manager, Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited, presented 400,000 baht to Chantaburi Governor Prachak Suwanpakdi (2nd right) to support the construction of 80 check dams at Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center in Chanthaburi. The project aims at celebrating His Majesty King Bhumibol’s 80th Birthday Anniversary.

More than 200 people from nearby communities, as well as employees of ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand, which included Esso, ExxonMobil Limited and ExxonMobil Exploration Production Khorat Inc., and their families, participated in the presentation ceremony.

His Majesty the King initiated the establishment of the Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center on 28 December 1981 in order to conduct study, research and experimentation on appropriate development methods suitable for the development needs in the coastal area of Chanthaburi Province. Slowing down the water flow from the mountains, the construction of check dams at Kung Krabaen Bay will help restore mangrove forests, promote coastal fish stocks, and prevent sea water intrusion into agricultural lands.
