Daniel E. Lyons, chairman and managing director of Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited, presented a 500,000-baht cheque to H.E. Tanin Kraivixien, privy councilor and vice president of the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen (SUPPORT), Bangsai Arts and Crafts Centre. The contribution will be for developing media materials to promote activities of the SUPPORT’s Bangsai Arts and Crafts Centre to the public through television for 2-3 years. The presentation ceremony was recently held at the Privy Council Chambers, Saranrom Royal Garden in Bangkok.

Bangsai SUPPORT Centre, one of Her Majesty the Queen’s initiatives, is aimed to enhance Thai intellectual heritage, particularly handicrafts, while improving villagers’ income and their quality of life. The centre is well-known in Thailand and abroad for its highlighted collection of handicrafts, craft trainings to poor farmers and being a tourist attraction.

Esso realized the need for human skill development to improve the rural standard of living and the need for Thai art and culture conservation. The company continued supporting the foundation, mainly for the renovation of the outdoor visibility of “Sala Pra Ming Kwan,” the pavilion of the centre, in 2005 and 2006. In 2007, Esso supported the centre to organize exhibitions displaying its masterpieces and fine products at Siam Paragon Complex in Bangkok.
