ExxonMobil Awards Global Women in Management Scholarship to Thai Social Worker

Mongkolnimit Auacherdkul (2nd left), director and public affairs manager, Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited, an ExxonMobil affiliate in Thailand, presented a congratulatory letter to Rachada Tuvinun (3rd right), researcher, Population and Community Development Association (PDA), on her receiving the scholarship on Global Women in Management (WIM) Program: Building Leaders for Development” from Exxon Mobil Corporation, the world’s leading petroleum and petrochemical company. Mechai Veravaidya (3rd left), PDA chairman, also joined the presentation.

Sponsored by Exxon Mobil Corporation, the program will be conducted by The Center for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA) in Washington DC, offering an intensive workshop from July 7 to August 1, 2008 and a year-long guided mentoring on “NGO management” for middle-level management women from community organizations in various countries. ExxonMobil will provide total support for the course at US$ 375,000 (or around 15 million baht) for full scholarships of the participants from around the world. Ms. Rachada is one of the two participants from Thailand.

Global WIM was initiated with an aim to provide an opportunity to women in various countries who have potential to improve both themselves and their home countries. The course this year focuses on building capacity in NGOs to help populations help themselves. Attendees will benefit from an ongoing mentoring program and involvement in the alumni network of more than 5,000 people who have participated in CEDPA’s training programs.
