Esso Supports Fund for Skills Enhancement Center for Women and Girls Project in Laem Chabang Area

Mr. Robert Michael Cooper (3rd right), Chairman and Managing Director, Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited, presented a cheque of 4,000,000 baht to support Skills Enhancement Center for Women and Girls Project to Mr. Mechai Viravaidya (3rd left), Chairman of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA).

Esso realizes the importance of necessary skills of women and girls for sustainable development. This project, covering 10 communities in Laem Chabang area nearby Esso Sriracha refinery, aims to help providing the group with skills, resources and supporting facilities to help improve their economic circumstances, business management skill and drive positive change in their communities.

Population and Community Development Association (PDA) has been selected to lay the fundamental steps of the program in coordination with Esso and its Sriracha Refinery. The activities that have been accomplished included community needs survey, brainstorming for the needed skills, getting consensus from community member, liaise with local government as well as finding the right source for training. The project will be completed by the end of 2010.
