Esso Supports “Yam Panya” Project to Instill Reading Habit Among Thai Children

Esso is helping to promote reading habits to children in rural areas via an educational tool called “Yam Panya (Backpacks of Wisdom)”.
Mr. Isra Sunthornvipart (3rd left), Public and Government Affairs Advisor of Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited, presented a cheque for 50,000 baht to Ms. Rabieb Hongphan (2nd left), Librarian of Suphanburi National Library, to support Yam Panya (Backpacks of Wisdom) project. The presentation ceremony was recently held at the National Library, Suphanburi province.
Initiated by Suphanburi National Library, Yam Panya project was aimed to promote reading habits among children and those deprived of educational opportunities in the rural areas. This will help enhance their knowledge and make good use of their leisure time. Yam Panya comprises books, toys, games, jigsaws and educational media tools.
The Yam Panya project currently serves a number of local schools in Suphanburi and nearby provinces by providing up to 20 backpacks to each school for a lending period of one semester (4 months) and then rotating to other schools. The project has been a great success, with several schools joining the program.
