Esso employees volunteer involvement in supporting education at Ban Sri Pathumwan School, Surat Thani province

Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited together with Esso Employee Club and volunteer employees joined hands in renovating the school building and playground at Ban Sri Pathumwan School, Surat Thani province.

Mongkolnimit Auacherdkul, director and public and government affairs manager, and Matana Sutatham, president of Esso Employee Club, presented 350,000-baht fund and 10 laptop computers to Foosak Leamkaew, principal of Ban Sri Pathumwan school, for the renovation of the school’s building and playground as well as for the donation of school supplies, sports equipment and scholarships to students of Ban Sri Pathumwan School in the southern province of Surat Thani.

On this occasion, Esso Employee Club brought over 50 volunteer employees to paint the school’s building and playground as part of the employee involvement initiative to drive forward the community’s education together. 

Mongkolnimit said: “Esso, as a company with 123-year presence in Thailand, is committed to corporate social responsibility. We aim to create opportunities and shared value for the economy, society and environment which enable the country’s sustainable growth. We recognize the importance of education as a strong foundation for the country’s progress and that is why we have been supporting this kind of educational initiatives.”

Matana said, “From this concept, we have coordinated with employees of Esso and ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand by tapping on their talents and creativity to come up with ways to give back to the society.  Our employees are involved with this project from the start. Their fundraising ideas such as charity bazaar, concert and auction played a huge part in the success of this program. Also, we invited over 50 employees to volunteer for activities at Ban Sri Pathumwan school today.”

Ban Sri Pathumwan School at Surat Thani province was established on May 19, 1977.  Esso Standard Thailand Limited Company Limited, the former name of Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited prior to listing, donated 1,300,000 baht to the school in 1984 for the construction of the school’s building.  At present, the school is open for both pre-school and primary levels with a total of 106 students.
