Esso Sriracha Refinery and employees donate survival bags to communities as relief assistance during Covid-19 situation on the volunteer program “Day of Caring”

Chonburi, Thailand - Esso (Thailand), together with employees from its Sriracha Refinery, donated survival bags of food and necessities to the 11 communities surrounding the refinery.

Esso Sriracha Refinery and employees donate survival bags to communities as relief assistance during Covid-19 situation on the volunteer program “Day of Caring”

The donation is relief assistance to help those in need as a result of COVID-19 and part of the Esso employee volunteer program called “Day of Caring.”  Survival bags presented to community leaders for distribution included rice, bottled water and alcohol-based hand sanitizer.  Total donations in this activity has reached up to 243,632 baht which included 200,232 baht support by the Refinery and 43,400 baht from employees. 

 “We put emphasis on operating with safety and care for the neighbors around us. We are part of this community, and we want to make a positive difference where we can,” said Suchart Phowatthanasathian, Esso director and refinery manager. “Through these efforts, we are glad to provide necessities on the occasion of “14th Day of Caring” that will help those with the most need such as senior citizens, disabled persons and bedridden patients.  Our employees and their families reached deep in their hearts to give funds and package up the necessities for distribution.”

Esso (Thailand) Public Company Limited represented by Suchart Phowatthanasathian (2nd from Left), director and refinery manager, and Dr. Taweesak Bunluesin (1st from Left), director, presented the donation.  On this occasion, both Deputy Mayors of Laem Chabang Municipality – Thanee Kreitpipatthanakul (2nd from right) and Santi Siritanyong (1st from right) – jointly chaired the event which was held at Muang Thong meeting room, Laem Chabang Municipality office.

Dr. Taweesak added, “This was an impressive effort by our employees, and it demonstrates the strong level of care that our employees have for the community.  Employees and families of more than 40 persons have joined in the bag preparation and donation efforts.  This is just one of the many ways we are supporting the community and working to get through this situation together.”

 The Day of Caring is part of Esso Refinery’s continuous corporate citizenship together with employees and families which has included volunteer activities such as education enhancement programs through learning playgrounds, environmental conservations in marine live activity, coral reef restoration and forestry clean-up, relief assistance, and others for sustainable development.
